ROGER STONE CONTINUES MOVE INTO FOREIGN LOBBYING
NEW FARA FILING IS FIRST FOR TRUMP CONFIDANT'S DRAKE VENTURES
BY ROB WALDECK
Late Saturday, Roger Stone's Drake Ventures, LLC filed Foreign Agents Registration Act paperwork to represent the Mexican State of San Luis Potosi. According to the filing, Stone is to provide "Government and public relations counsel and representation related to trade and economic development, including in connection with U.S. government officials."
This appears to be the first time Stone has registered for FARA with his Drake Ventures lobbying firm. The Florida-based politico's Black, Manafort and Stone famously represented Jonas Savimbi and others during the firm's heyday, although much of that work was tied to his partner, Paul Manafort.
More recently, Stone has been listed on FARA filings for DCI Group as working on accounts involving Nigeria and the Bahamas.
Stone had, until recently, been representing bitcoin entrepreneur Roger Ver in an attempt to secure a pardon from President Trump.
Stone, a longtime friend and confidant of President Donald Trump, has cultivated an increasingly international client roster since the start of the second Trump administration — a marked shift for a political operative who spent most of his career working domestic campaigns and controversies. Whether his ties to the West Wing will translate into results for San Luis Potosí's economic development office remains to be seen
